Studies from the the Bowen/Anatomy project. (Got to find a better name!). Looking at ways to create new anatomical models that factor in the WHOLE body.

Step 1. Allow the experienced movement practitioner to lie face down on the floor

Step 2. Put in 1-2 Bowen moves (lower back integration moves in this particular case.)

Step 3. Observe and document how the movement practitioner expresses their experience of the Bowen moves over a period of time…until it finds a natural conclusion.

The top drawing is the beginning and end of the sequence (2 drawings overlaid)

The bottom drawing is what happened in between…over a period of about 15 minutes

It feels to me like an image of the nervous system in action and if you look closely you’ll see areas where the lines get a bit knotted up or congested (top of the hamstring left hand side) and under the armpit (right hand side). It makes me wonder whether our muscular tightness is not actually nervous system or fascial congestion. Just a thought!!!

Also another great example why we take breaks between Bowen moves. #artandanatomy #bowentherapy #nervoussystem #fascia
